I Hate Yard Sales...But Love The Money!

Today was my yard sale with my family in my hometown of Warner Robins. I am sooo tired...I have been worked like a dog. Literally, my dog was better off than me today. She was relaxing while my mom and I were doing all the heavy lifting, sweating, organizing, and dealing with the masses. I have learned one thing from today. I HATE YARD SALES....

I may hate yard sales because I went to our local Goodwill and found a few things that caught my eye. My mom and I should have been at home organizing our items, pricing it all out, and getting a good night's rest since it was supposed to open at 8 am. We didn't get home until 9 and I didn't hear the end of my mom's mouth. lol! But to make a llllloooonnnggg story short. We went to bed at 3 am. Not so good when you have to be up ready to negotiate with costumers and be alert for four hours.

These are the pieces that kept me in the Goodwill longer than I wanted to be there. I found some cute breezy shorts; I am loving longer shorts now. It's so light and like pj's but trust I won't wear them like that though. I want to jazz it up with a nice silk shirt or something. Then these earrings I found. They're clip-ons but I am going to turn them into studs. Stay tuned for the DIY!

Now this dress.......I love it. I have been looking for cute summer dresses with cut-outs. I am going to cut it just above the knees. I love the color and the fit, although it may need to be taken in just a tad.

The back detail of the dress!
At the end of it all, it really wasn't that bad. I love to people watch and I got an unexplainable enjoyment out of watching people peruse our junk *ahem* treasures. And the chunk of change we got wasn't so bad...we'll do much better next time. And now I am in search of some yard sales to take a gander at...wonder if those people hate love yard sales as much as I do! :)

Atlanta's Fashionable...You Didn't Know?

This past Saturday, I had the pleasure of being apart of Atlanta's first annual fashion/beauty bloggers meetup. I told you all that I picked out my outfit and found these fabbbbbbbbulous shoes by Steve Madden (my shoe boyfriend). Well this is what I wore them with! I took pictures in front of a mural in little 5 points before the event and let me tell you...I was nervous. I headed over to Eny Pretty Boutique.

Top, Ring: Forever 21 | Shorts, Belt, Earrings: Thrifted | Necklace: Barrowed from my mom | Shoes: Steve Madden

Close up of my belt!

The evening started off with signing in and getting our raffle and swagg bag tickets. I was super excited to be meeting other bloggers in my area but how would I start a conversation?! I soon got over my fears and struck up a convo with a few bloggers about...what else...SHOES. lol I felt comfortable enough to sip on a mimosa. There was so much to take in...from make overs, a nail bar sponsored by China Glaze, shopping in the boutique (we got 15% off our purchases), awesome give aways, and yummy Hors d'oeuvres.

I was the lucky winner of a great summer scarf from Charming Charlie's! It was the first of all the awesome give aways and I won...I never win anything so I was super excited! I will be wearing it with a white silky tank and some cut off shorts, just the thing to make a normally boring outfit POP!

I have gained so much from this event. Meeting the ladies behind some of my favorite blogs (I felt like I was meeting celebrities!!! They are in my eyes) gave me confidence to continue my blog but also challenged me to learn more. It was an invaluable experience. And I walked away with new friends!

DIY Aldo Necklace

I was hanging out after church with a friend I know from UGA this past Sunday and we happened upon a very stylish necklace in Aldo. We immediately decided to make our own for a fraction of the price. (the Aldo one cost $20)

What you will need:
100 jumbo bobby pins
Gold spray paint
Black cord
Beads
Coil fasteners (enables you close the necklace)

I have more pics of our journey of necklace making and trust me it was a journey! I will post it with more detailed instructions and such. So for now look at the pretty pics...lol

Birthdays and Brunches

I have been absent from this poor blog. And for this I am sorry...smh. I don't have internet set up in my new apartment and I'm also saving up for a new laptop. The current one has a virus and I've had it since my crazy undergrad days so it's OLD. Time for an upgrade, and this time around I have my heart set on a MACBOOK PRO!!! Ok, I'm calm now.

I had a fabulous fourth of July weekend and I hope everyone was able to partake in as well. I attended my bestie Chanel of Cheap n' Chic birthday party at Strip. It was good food!

Then I went to brunch with my girls from UGA at Front Page News. My food was so good, I was fine with stuffing my self to core. And it was super affordable. I felt so grown; dressing cute, meeting up with the girlfriends to catch up, and having great conversations.
